Located in the Prahova Valley right between Busteni and Sinaia, two famous Romanian mountain
resorts with a deep-rooted tourist tradition, Villa "Cascada" is the ideal
destination to unveil the natural beauty of the Carpathians,
their historical and cultural background, and some
of the customs and traditions in the area.
Poiana Tapului
Once a stylish health &spa resort with administrative autonomy, Poiana Tapului gradually developed into a classy residential district of Busteni
nicknamed as "The capital city of Romania" during the presidential mandate of Emil Constantinescu, he himself being nicknamed back then as Tapul (= The Goat, meaning - political
scapegoat of the transition to democracy). Poiana Tapului still preserves many sentimental and historical memories of the past mainly related to the beginnings of the
constitutional monarchy in a period when Prince Ferdinand himself stayed here before being crowned as King of Romania.

Acces
Poiana Tapului is easily accessible by car on route DN1 (Bucharest-Brasov highway) or by train (ending station - Poiana Tapului railway station). Other transportation
facilities are also available for the public at the bus/microbus terminals in Bucharest and other large cities in Romania.
Also known as Screaming Waterfall or Cascada Urlatoare it is one the most magical
things of its kind in Romania, that can be accessed by leaving Poiana Tapului
(860m altitude), walking along some 2km forest trail, and then easy climbing to 1100m
where Screaming Waterfall shows its splendour together with the beauty of the adjacent area.
Doctor Kremnitz's monument
The monument is an official homage paid to Doctor Wilhelm Kremnitz, personal phisician of
King Ferdinand and husband of Mite Kremnitz, Queen Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting with whom the Queen collaborated on several books.
Initially located on the same street as Villa Cascada, the monument has recently been moved to a more central position, right inside the City Park.
Zamora
Zamora hill is a most picturesque place, located across the Caraiman Peek, ideal for long relaxing nature walks along
the river Prahova and up the hill in a countless variety of possible scenarios. Zamora is believed to be the sunniest area in both Poiana
Tapului and Busteni. Sociologist and economist Lucretiu Patrascanu spent 2 years (1941-1942) of home detention in Zamora punished for his
communist beliefs which, strangely, did not help him to escape the Communist regime's persecution after the end of WWII. It is in Zamora where he
finished writing "Sub trei dictaturi", a book on communism and the military dictatorship which preceded it. In February 1946 "Sub trei dictaturi" was
published in a special edition by l'Horizon International Publishing House in Paris.
